Do you have piles, boxes and bins full of items you know you no longer need and want to sell or donate but somehow never have the time to actually do it? If you’re anything like us, these piles continue to grow and sit gathering dust in the basement.
At The Market, you can get rid of these items AND make money off of them without doing any of the work! That’s where we come in. We will take all of your boxes/bins/bags of items. We will sort through them, price them, and post them on The Market for sale. Whatever money your items accumulate, we split the cost evenly in half with you. All you have to do is drop off your goods. If there are goods that we can’t post we will offer to return to you or donate for you.
At this time, we are limiting items to baby/children related. This includes but is not limited to: clothes, toys, and essentials.
Our business has a unique pricing structure. Most retail upcycled goods stores will have to list an item higher than us, while something like Facebook Marketplace will see people listing items for nothing or free. What we are doing is listing items at a starting price closer to retail (but still lower), and discounting the price 5% each day it’s listed, down to a 50% max discount. We eventually plan to discount to 0% and then donate goods, but we’re building inventory at this time and giving items people bring to us the chance to sell.
As the number of customers increase for The Market, we anticipate a more competitive pricing given that people will want to grab an item quicker in case someone else gets it.
We are beginning to add local shipping for $5 flat (delivered by us) to add to your shopping experience!
Also, given the nature of small transactions and high processing costs, we have to add a $0.30 transaction fee to make the business viable.
Let us know if you have any questions on any of this and we are happy to explain!
